Hi, I have seen a few photos now of plants growing in pots that have been split in half.
I can understand now why it is done, but just curious to know, do you cut the bottom of the pots away?
I have seen videos when they are being planted, they just take the tape of and slide the two halves away, but it looks as if there is no bottom,
Just trying to find out what do you use in place of the bottom in the pots, some material that breaks down easily i am guessing, but interested to know what you use.
Hope that question makes sense.
Any information is appreciated.

I use a plastic plate and cut the top side off the plate at planting time. Place the pot and plate in the planting hole and remove the plate. Start cutting and removing the tape and adding soil until the planting hole is full. I hope that makes sense to you.

I have found I only have to split one side of the pot so its like a clam shell. Only have to retape the bottom back on, and one side. My pots are 3 3/4 gallon..because I might have to keep them inside due to extreme weather conditions.

Cheers, all makes good sense, I guess I am probably just over thinking it a bit, I thought that maybe you might be using something like a peat mat or similar.
But both ways mentioned make sense.
