My pumpkin was doing 20+ lbs a day and suddenly slowed to 5 lbs yesterday... It's 95 degrees... Is that the problem?

What was the result of the last measurement (CC, EE, SS) and what was the result of the measurement the day before? Simultaneous slowing down of all 3 variables, or one of them being particularly "slow" now?

Hi Pumpking , what info do you have on this

Didn´t want to tell it before I see the data, but sometimes the following things happen/happened:

- 20 lbs followed by 5 lbs the other day, followed by 30 lbs the day after...could be measuring error on the intermediate day.

Ok, we can´t see the trend (for example, if th next measurement would tell something like +30 lbs...a sudden jump, highly unexpected in my opinion)

- simultaneous additions to EE and SS but slow growth of CC...whereas SS and EE are easier to measure (in my opinion), slight dviations in hight or less parallel alignment of the tape for CC could result in some missing inches for CC.

An alternative explanation for pronounced additions to SS and EE with only little additions to CC could also arise from the development of a hump on top of the pumpkin, but this should not lead to a significant loss of daily weight gains, it could simulate a sudden increase of daily gains as soon as this hump starts to become the new top of the pumpkin.

In case of rather proportional slowing down of SS, EE and CC it could indeed be a growth related issue, but the temperature mentioned shouldn´t cause that kind of troubles, unless the plant ran out of water or had been extremely over-watered (again: IN MY OPINION). In the past I had a pumpkin slow down that much within one or two days and there was an obvious reason...the day I discovered the deceleration I also discovered a stem end split.

Dear jlindley, you started this thread, and now I am very surprised that you obviously haven´t checked this thread the past couple of days. How is your pumpkin doing now? How did the daily gains develop?

Thanks Pumpking... it's still a roller coaster with this particular kin... it really confuses me... it doesn't get massive amounts of sunlight and I'm thinking the cloudy days with lack of sunlight is causing it
