I hear that the from day 20-30 is when these pumpkins start putting on the most weight. I know it depends largely on environmental factors, but when does the pumpkin typically begin to slow down in growth? How long does peak growth last?

Mine usually start to slow way down somewhere between day 40 and 50. I'm trying to push that date a little further out this season...

How do you plant to do this?
Keeping the leaves healthy?

If you can keep the temperature up artificially (if you are in a greenhouse), wouldn't it keep growing like crazy regardless of DAP - up to a point of course?

Keeping a better fungicide program both on the leaves and in the soil Somebody.

Socalgrower is right on, gotta keep your plant healthy with a rotation of fungicides and a program to battle bugs. In my region we only battle aphids and a few other small sucking insects but they carry the diseases that will kill your plant in a short period of time.

My pumpkins usually keep growing slowly right into October if the plant is health. But again, in my region, best growth for pumpkins is up till about 100 DAP.

100 DAP is a long time.
The heat here starts them up fast and shuts them down faster from what I am hearing.

Thanks for the answers.

Somebody, go back on previous years and check out north shores plant health late September into earl October. Some of the healthiest plants I've seen and something I need to learn how to achieve.

And yes, your climate is completely different then both Glenn and mine. Hot, Hot, Hot!

Hope things are going well for you down there.

Yes, I am doing fine. I moved my original goal from 400 to 500 lbs a long time ago and it now looks very likely if nothing bad happens. I am waiting for day 30 to get a better idea. Considering the fact that I had so little time to prepare my soil, I am actually really happy with what is happening.
