I finally have a nice fruit (15 DAP) now on my main around 15 feet out from the stump. Hoping it will now take and continue growing. My main vine is beginning to grow out well beyond the fruit. Should I prune this back some? I also have a bit of a bare area from the stump to the new fruit from a larger fruit I removed previously due to rotting. My hesitation on cutting the main beyond the fruit is related to many new secondaries forming past the fruit. I have one really long secondary near the stump and the rest are just starting to pick up growth as secondaries between the distance. Any suggestions to how to prune beyond the fruit and how best to fill in bare areas where I previously made room for growing fruit that now had to be removed leaving behind no secondary node? Thanks!

You can always back fill with new secondaries to old open spots, but you need to draw the line on when to terminate growth so all the energy goes to the pkn. Some leave the main growing all season though. If you're a new grower, I'd be content terminating at the pkn if the main past the pkn gives you any issues. Giants have been grown both ways.

Thanks, she seems to be doing well as of today and I did take the vine to the pumpkin. So, now I will wait and wait!!
