Get the plant grow in a decent pattern for optimum use of sunlight and to avoid interpenetrating vine growth, for example the X-mas tree pattern...main vine runs in one direction and the secondaries run perpendicular. This pattern will cover your patch, additional growth (from tertiary vines) will only disturb this pattern, hence you have to remove all tertiaries from the secondaries (as soon as they appear).

Once the fruit has set, I remove the male flower and tertiary growth tip a day before burying. When I bury the vine I double check that the tertiary growth tip was completely removed. At DAP 20 I terminate all growth tips on the entire plant.

Terminating all growth tips after DAP 20, is this pretty standard for most growers?

It is fairly standard practice. Some growers suggest you allow a vine or two to grow as room allows. This ensures some strong leaves in the late season.
