I have vines that have mutated into one. Very thick and leaves are all clumped up. There is a primary vine growing but the others seem to be growing in a ball of leaves. Should i keep it, i hv another in the same mound growing fine.

Sounds like a bad case of a ribbon vine plant. Better fill the precious patch space with the better (trouble-free) plant.

If you have two plants in the same mound...remove this one

Thanks to the both of you. That's what I was afraid of, I'll get rid of it tonight.

Do you know what causes this?

Our seed likes are highly inbred. It just happens from time to time. That's why you should always have a backup.

I think a plant growing in too cool conditions has a higher likelyhood of expressing the condition. I used to get it all the time when I was first starting out in the hobby. Now that I have warm soil and cold frames it's rare for me to even have an odd secondary vine do it.

Thanks for the feed back but for the record, temps here ranging 85 - 109. I got rid of it and the backup plant is growing gang busters.
