Columbia, SC

So I have read the first three of don langevin's books, have done TONS of research on the internet, have been studyin and learning for close to three years now, planted regular pumpkins for first two seasons, and had my first season w Atlantic giants 2013, and my personal best was 482... After all I've learned i feel my next hurdle is learning how/where to get seeds from a good stock... I just am having a hard time wrapping my head around the methodology behind seed selection process as explained in all research I have done. Anyone have any suggestions please? I'm so ready to take this to the next level just need a little help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! ---- Eric (columbia, South Carolina)

Engel's Great Pumpkins and Carvings

Menomonie, WI (mail@gr8pumpkin.net)

They are available for the asking...research what you like and go from there. If you are looking for a 2009 your going to need to attend the auctions

Seed exchange has free offers, you just send a sasbe. 2009, 220 are really hot now, exp to get, but, there are crosses in the seed exchange with those genetics in them.

Go thru the diary's, see a pumpkin you like, roll mouse cursor over little envelope, there email will come up on the bottom. If you send them a sasbe make sure you send a thank you note along with it.

The best thing ever is to join a few clubs like the GVGO or RMGPG. They send out 2 or 3 newsletters on how to grow giants and they also send out seeds to all their members.

Both clubs have excellent leaders. Phil and Jane Hunt of the GVGO and none better than the WIZ...Gary Grande of the RMGPG.

@ kukula:

Option 1) of what you should do is:
Go to the "seed exchange" section, there are some offers of excellent seeds. Contact those growers who have offered seeds, they will be happy to send you some seeds at the cost of a self-addressed bubble and some $$ for postage.

Option 2) of what you could do is:
Search the 2013 grower diaries, and where you find a pumpkin of the cross you like...you simply contact the grower (each diary has this little orange envelope icon, which you can use to access the email contact details of that particular grower) and ask if you might get some of those seeds (again at the cost of a self-addressed bubble and some $$ for postage).
