If I'm honest, I though america had less radical division than it used to. And I don't really care if you agree or disagree with someone. Or even if you feel like they're attacking you personally. Shooting a religious and political speaker is absolutely crazy.
I wish you Americans the best of luck, your country is in way worse a socio-political climate than I thought.

Also, RIP...

It doesnt seem like he was too controversial. The only reason I can think of to assassinate him would be to "eliminate all opposition." The doctrine of pre-emptive attacks has come home to roost, maybe. Hopefully truthful answers are forthcoming.

MLK wasnt too controversial either, nor was JFK. So... why. Its not a healthy climate politically nor physically even... Maha?!

Your sentiments are appreciated, NDV. Charlie was as good a person as there ever was and a brilliant debater. Speaking freely is no reason to be assassinated.

A sad reality has developed in our nation with a growing sensationalism of violence. We should be able to disagree whether the interaction becomes heated or peaceful without the fear violence or death. I believe this is not a left or right issue, but rather a condition of the heart. Today, also marked the shooting of 2 HS students at Evergreen High School in Colorado. We also remember the 3,000 lives lost during 911. And the heroic efforts of many first respondents and even victims trapped in the World Trade towers who kneeled down and prayed with co workers minutes before the superheated steel core of towers collapsed. We need to remember these were humans first with families. I strongly believe prayer is power and can provide the comfort needed in the deepest of sorrows. Let's seek to pray despite our differnces.
