Caution on language. Here’s the founder of Barstool Sports talking B10 football. With most other conferences playing now, the Big Ten schools are losing millions. Had the SEC done this, Alabama would have lost 200 million in revenue alone.

Anybody who doesn’t watch college football, there are regularly over 100,000 people in the stands for Michigan home games, and this guy brings on a hell of a rant.

The Big Ten ban on football cost the University of Iowa over $100 million. They had to cancel several other sports that were supported by football. The athletes will have their scholarships honored, but were notified way to late to try to find another school where they could compete. Another kick in the teeth after they cancelled the national wrestling tournament. Iowa was having their best season in years and was set to take the national title. And no wave to the kids in the children's hospital as well.

The University of Iowa Hospitals and clinics also took a $110 million loss from having to cancel elective procedures. They are planning to make up for that by cutting the pay of their essential workers like doctors, nurses, housekeeping, etc. That while non essential workers were put on layoff, given unemployment payments plus a $600/week bonus. That is equal to a full week at 15 per hour. That just sounds screwy to me.

Old Rookie, I agree with you. It was a nice release. I watched NHRA last weekend and enjoyed that as well. MSU just reported over 300 students have coronavirus and on campus and area students have been recommended to isolate for two weeks. I've been hooked on the SEC for the last several years and don't really pay much attention to the B10. As long as Clemson is playing I'm good.

Michigan, Ohio State, Penn have some of the most elite 5 star recruits in the country, and because they chose a B10 school over say a B12, ACC, SEC school, they are sidelined. For many, it’s their future profession potentially being stolen and missing 1/3 of their college playing days.

The rules are beyond stupid here as well. My kids can have wrestling practice, but can’t play in basketball games. Explain that

In Michigan the governor just opened up fall sports but the athletes must wear masks. I can't imagine how uncomfortable that would be. Bowling alleys are still closed which I don't understand. Give it a little time and your kids will be playing basketball.

Roger, what isn’t trustworthy with what I posted. It wasn’t a factual news story, it was a dude on a rant who’s passionate about college football... more opinion since that’s what Barstool Sports does. Please specify, or go give zero input on another thread like usual.

100 million is a lot, the worst part if you’re a Hawkeye fan is Iowa State is still playing and already lost their ranking in an upset this weekend. All because they are in a different conference, sort of like the county lines here with local sports. I had a feeling the SEC would play regardless, it’s their lifeline down there.

On the radio this morning, the Big 10 will now have an 8 game season. Coach Ferentz said it will be tough to get ready for the first game. No word on the sports that got cut. Will they be reinstated? This is just like the rest of the covid situation. They lie about the number of illnesses a deaths, can't make up their minds bout playing football.

There are local districts here who are now allowing their high schools to play football, soccer and hockey games in another county. They are literally scheduling fields\ice time as close as 2 miles away, and the only difference is the county name. It’s all a joke, sign a waiver, and if you don’t want to play, don’t play.
