Newsom goes straight to climate change as though somehow that's easier to fix the entire global climate than simply eliminating the hazard? Wouldn't it be easier to do controlled burns in the spring rather rather than act like 'burning in hell' is the only option? Talk about a government paralyzed by a narrow dogma.

Newsom: Over 2 million acres have burned this year -- SO FAR. We haven’t even hit “peak” fire season. We do not have time to deny the reality of climate change.

Shouldnt the response be to simply fix the fire problem... rather than the entire global climate??? Wake up Newsom... you have 100% control of fuel buildup and building codes in California... you have 1% control over global climate. Idiots.

Here is a good satellite view of the smoke. Oregon looks terrible also at the moment. Daylight only satellite so no good view at night.

I was able to burn a lot of the needles from under my ponderosa in January. It just takes a few dry days. Then you can set a very controllable fire that just skims the surface of the ground and doesnt kill live trees. Every live tree that dies becomes new fuel for the next round of fires. 150 million dead trees in the southern Sierra. Use fancy robots/ robotic helicopters to log them if traditional logging wont work. Idk... just throwing ideas out. 15 billion dollars worth of dead timber going to waste just in the southern sierras. A fully robotic ai helicopter could log dead trees from the air with no humans on the ground. Oh well whatever.

My son and I spent all summer cutting down dead trees and clearing undergrowth of our forest. Just the responsible thing to do to help prevent a fire that burns down my house right? What I just sat on my ass in the recliner with my beer watching sports all summer. “Eehhhh, global warming, it’s Trumps fault”. That’s easier than taking responsibility of my land. Forest management is basic and an important responsibility for a governor.

We need to focus more effort on restoring federal forests to healthier conditions that are less prone to out-of-control wildfires

I remember taking a Dendrology class back in 1999, and one of the big talking points was serotinous seeds\cones. Then he'd always go off on tangents about the Western US stating how suppressing millions of years of evolution and natural fires meant to "defuel" the landscape to build cities and suburbs was just a ticking time bomb. Well, here's your sign.
