Was listening to npr. All day they say how they are perfect journalists and they play the liberal side of the impeachment for hours. Then finally trump's attorney gets ten seconds of airtime and at the precise moment he is going to make his most important argument they cut to station identification and omit the meat of what he was saying. . . Great journalism there npr... lmao.

Looks to be a couple good days ahead. Impeachment farce will be over. Then caucuses will be done and the BS show will leave Iowa. I got 5 flyers in the mail from Quid Pro Joe in the last 3 days. He get to be here and most of his rivals are stuck in impeachment. And the dems have been running anti Bernie ads on TV. Now I know why Pelosi delayed the impeachment. To give Sleepy Joe an easy run at the end. The Obama/Clinton/Biden faction is trying to rig the nomination just like 4 years ago.

I don't know why the candidates even waste their time in Iowa it's too early and it doesn't really matter.

SOTU should be fun. Watching the faces of Nervous Nancy, Chuck U. Schumer, Shifty Schiff, and the Round Mound of the Gavel as the President triumphantly touts his first term and lays out his next four years in the White House. I'm sure he's also two steps ahead of the next Demtard hoax already in the hopper.

They come to Iowa after Jimmy Carter won here and was elected. Obama won here and was elected. Mondale and Kerry won here and won the nomination. Iowa is neither radical left or right. We tend to vote for the person, not the party. Our former governor was the longest serving governor in US history and a republican. Our current attorney general is the longest serving state attorney general in US history and is a democrat. We have 2 republican senators and a republican governor, but 3 out of 4 representatives are democrats. And rump won all 4 of our congressional districts in 2016.

One of the democrat wannabees, Castro, wants to knock Iowa out of the first spot, based on race. He says we are too white. Forgot that Iowa voted for Obama twice. 2 representatives, one senator and governor are women. I guess it shows that Iowa is not racist or sexist, but Castro is.

But I really would like to see Iowa drop out of the first spot. All the ads on TV and in the mailbox are annoying. A bunch of liars running around making promises they never intend to keep. Boring. And the ones pulling in our driveway to campaign for Bernie or Pocahontas are irritating.

It's the whole caucus process it seems wacko to me. That's why I think it's not representative of the rest of the states.

It isn't supposed to represent the rest of the states. It is to represent the party members in Iowa. Not only do they decide which candidate to support, they also debate and vote on platform issues and representatives to the county convention. County conventions set the county level platform and elect delegates to the state convention. the state convention sets the state platform, and elects national convention delegates and electors. They get people who are willing to put in a couple of hours and express their views. We still have a primary in the summer to pick candidates for county, state and congressional offices.

Yes this is different. But it gets those who really care about party politics involved. If the candidates want to put big emphasis on Iowa, so be it. I went to one democrat caucus in 1984 and was not impressed. Held in someone's house, poor turnout.

In states where they only have primaries, I don't know how they pick national convention delegates or platform issues. My guess is that the party big wigs do that.

Remember, this is not an election. It is a partisan party function. Primaries are a way to have the taxpayer support the 2 party system and cut out minor parties. That is a big reason why I voted Libertarian in 2016. Johnson got enough votes in Iowa to qualify the Libertarian party fr major party status. In 2018 we actually had a Libertarian primary at state expense. More choices equals more democracy.

Well, the democrats sure showed the nation how NOT to run caucuses. They try to be so sophisticated; make your first pick and if your candidate isn't "viable" pick again. I don't know where they come up with the 3 sets of results they are talking about. Blaming all on a cellphone app: what a bunch of BS. It sure opens them up to charges of rigging the results. After 2016 when there were many credible reports of rigging for Hillary, this really makes them look crooked. But now, all of the candidates are claiming victory. I guess that is the liberal way; everybody gets a trophy.

There is talk that Iowa will lose first in the nation status. I say GREAT!! Who needs all of those idiots running around promising the moon and lying about everything?

Republicans did it right. Just took a vote in each precinct and added them up. Trump got 97%, over 31,000. Weld was second with just barely over 400 votes, Walsh was just over 300. With around 1700 precincts, that means Trump got 100% in over half of them. Something to worry about, dems. Republicans are SOLID behind Trump.

Ask Rick Santorum about the lovely caucus state of Iowa. It's a screwy way of doing it. They need to trash it and do it like everybody else.

Of course we should do it like all the other states. Don't let the grass roots from caucuses, county conventions and the state conventions set the platforms. Let the party bigwigs do that. We can't trust that to average citizens.

That’s what delegates are for right? Because we can’t trust the average citizens.

roger80, how about if the parties have primaries to vote on each and every platform plank. That would be quite a allot. Or let the party bosses decide it ll. Or use the representative system to decide, just like our government works? For platform, the caucus is a great way to go. but for picking candidates, the dems in Iowa are a bunch of idiots.

Spudley, from what I saw, Pete and Bernie were virtually tied, both by state convention delegates and "votes". But not all the results are known yet because were put in the mail. But the way the democrats do it is completely messed up. No secret ballot. you have to physically move into groups. And if your group isn't "viable" you have to "vote" for someone else or you don't get counted. And between 1st and 2nd "alignment" the groups try to lure people over to their group.

You get no argument from me about the Iowa democrat party being totally screwy. I would go so far as to say that they are unable to screw in a light bulb. If you look into the "app" they blamed for the problems, it gets even worse. They knew it wasn't working before the caucuses. They refused Homeland Security's offer to look it over for security problems. It was developed by some democrats (not computer experts) who wanted to make a super-dooper all-purpose political tool. And these clowns think they deserve to run the country?

Republicans did it right. Caucus took a secret ballot, added them up,had the results right away. No putting pressure on friends and neighbors to influence their vote. No telling someone their vote didn't count because the one they voted for in that precinct wasn't viable. Every republican's vote counted.

All "fair and balanced" news outlets are completly biased towards their respective donors ideals. NPR has gone completly left wing libtard and FOX news is fanaticly right wing head in the sand extreamists.

I think the BBC is about as close to "Fair and Balanced" news we have at the moment...
