I know that soil type would be a huge factor in the amount of water you use, but is there a certain formula you use to determine how much water you give per day? Such as number of leaves, size of kin, or size of plant? Also when do you water and how often?

1" to 1 1/2" a week. The amount depends on you square footage of your plant. The equation is .6234 * the sq ft of your plant='1 inch of rain.

Example .6234 * 600 sq ft = 374 gallons of water equals 1 inch of rain.

If you get 1/2" of rain in the week and u only want water with 1" a week per our example you would need to put roughly 190 gals on the plant.

I am putting about 70 gal a day per plant.I have a 275 gal tote that gets filled every night and covers about 2800 SQ. I water between 4:00 and 4:30 every morning so there is little evap before the sun comes up full. In the past I haven't watered this much and can really see the difference in my plants.

we water based on soil moisture, weighed against misting needs for leaf burn control during high ambient temps. If you start getting yellowing around leaf edges your a bit to wet.

panther 1, what if I get 4 or 5 inches of rain in less than 3 days? On a weekly basis! LOL Peace, Wayne
Trying to keep my sense of humor, how long do I wait when the rain stops, b/4 starting to add water? Obviously, when the soil dries out. Just trying to keep my feet out of the mud!

100 gallons per plant per day when damp soil, 150 when dry.

You want to water in morning as disease tends to spread more at night. I always want my leaves dry by nightfall if I miss morning feeding and cant be dry by dark I skip feeding.

Richard, what size (sq. ft.) plant are you watering? Peace, Wayne Sq. ft. of plant makes a difference I think.
