How does a giant pumpkin plant get evenly watered when there is no water available close by. I have to haul the water from a nearby forest preserve. I have a 55 gallon drum for one plant and a 95 gallon trash can for the other. I used an old garden hose with holes drill every 8" connected to the containers with a splitter valve to connect a short length of soaker hose to go around the back of each hill. The main hoses are buried in the ground in few inches zigzagging down length of each patch. I was thinking of doing a different system next year.

Get a small pump. You can get a bilge pump relativity cheap, and it will run of a 12v battery. Or you could get a gas pump. Both will run a garden house. I would suggest that you invest in a small water tank you can get a 275 gallon tote for about $75 used or you can go to a farm consignment auction and get a small water tank for about the same.

My patch are in community garden plots that are rentals, so no well can do Porkchop. Is a 275 gallon tote enough for two plants?

A 275 gallon should be good... Might be some days where you would have to make a couple trips... Depends how quick you dry out...
