I used this filter for one year. Then my son hit it with a baseball and it exploded! That was a fun day. Anyway, I don't know how effective it is but it did allow for watering at a reasonable pressure. It can also be reversed and reused. My suggestion is to first confirm that you have chlorine in the water and not chloramine. I realized after a year that my water has chloramine which is more difficult to remove. I don't believe this filter removes chloramine. Good Luck.

an easier way to remove clorine from city water is to store it, open to the air, for 24-48 hours. this also allows it to warm to ambient temperature. a 275 gal IBC tote can be had for pretty cheap. connect to a pump and water as needed.

most municipalities have been switching to chloramine which will not gas off, i have used filters in the past but the would clog up in no time. check if your town uses chlorine or chloramine if chlorine then yes try to sore it and let it gas-off.
