I have been thinking about ways of warming running water by solarization and wondering if anyone has tried and has been successful. Several thoughts are 8 fifty feet black hoses encased in a black poly back and a clear poly front which would be a constant supply or a 50/500 gallon barrel/tank with the outlet toward the top and the inlet on the bottom on a timer to run in the afternoon. I have used the 500 gallon tank for years but I’m trying to automate it.

In Joel Hollands video on growing giants. He has a black tank and then laid out a bunch off runs of garden hose on the driveway with a recurc pump to warm the water. So I don't see why your idea wouldn't work

i don't recall whose diary it was, but a few years ago I saw a picture of a black board with black poly tubing stapled to it in a zigzag pattern across the board, letting the sun warm the hoses and recirculating water to a tank....maybe someone else recalls where that picture is.

Try looking up the way some people heat their swimming pools with DIY heaters, my nephew put plastic sheeting on the ground, placed coils of black poly pipe on top of that, then covered all of it with black plastic sheeting. It can raise his pool temp by 20 degress

The link that steve posted doesn't work for me, but if you click on the cached page you can get what google had the last time it indexed the page. Or copy this link....
