When would be the best time to start applying calcium as a foliar? I have a chelated solution of calcium(8%) nitrate (4%) and was wondering if additional nitrogen could contribute to a young pumpkin aborting.

Cheers

Pete

Pumpkin at 6 days. If that's not too early I'll start dilute.

Is the benefit of foliar feeding calcium nitrate the calcuim or the nitrogen?

I was under the impression that unless your plant starts showing signs of needing N...I thought we were supposed to push K a bit after fruit set. I get the idea of foliar feeding Ca but wouldn't a chelated source do the trick?

If I had a chelated form to hand I'd go with that but my aim is to deliver additional calcium. I was concerned about the additional nitrate though and have held off.

Just doing some info hunting and thought this might be of interest although probably 'old hat' to you all.

Cheers

You better be careful to overdue the nitrogen. If the plant has good dark green color I wouldn't spray calcium nitrate.

On a side note about nitrogen....I recently did a soil test and my patch =
% total Nitrogen .350

What is an acceptable range?
