            | KathyS | West Paris Me. | I have read that it is good to foliar feed with molasses be I have not been able to find how much to add per gallon. Also, is this something that should be done weekly? thanks | 6/6/2013 11:01:49 AM |

            | cojoe | Colorado | I dont know the proper rate. You want to go with a small amount-too much and youll turn the plant a sickly shade of green. At high concentrations it will kill weeds. You might try one third tablespoon per gallon on a plant and see how it does.I used 1 tablespoon per gallon and my plants turned a funny shade of green for two days and then they came out of it fine. | 6/6/2013 1:42:31 PM |

            | cueball | ShagHarbour n,s canada | i would be worryed about it attracting un wanted bugs more than anything | 6/6/2013 4:01:44 PM |

            | pap | Rhode Island | ditto to cueball. i agree----good on pancakes but unless you use a very weak solution? will draw unwanted mites, etc.
we did use small amts in our soil soup several years ago with no problems but, that was a professional nutrient mix for soil soup batches.

            | KathyS | West Paris Me. | It would seem like it could clog the pores aren't the word that I am looking for but you know what I mean. Which is why I haven't done it so far. Guess that I will continue putting it in my compost tea and leave it at that. | 6/7/2013 11:19:59 AM |

            | Engel's Great Pumpkins and Carvings | Menomonie, WI ([email protected]) | The organic growers report just the opposite when they use molasses.. | 6/7/2013 12:46:08 PM |

            | Tad12 | Seattle, WA | I've never foliar fed molasses, though I know many people that do (mostly in a greenhouse or indoor environment). I have used it as a component in aerated compost teas, in which case it works quite well.
Here's a couple of different opinions on the subject:

(not a huge fan of Linda Chalker-Scott in general, but I would agree with her on this).

and Malcolm Beck lists his anecdotal results:

            | Gritch | valparaiso, in | I keep my molasses in an old soap bottle with a squirt top. I add about 3 squirts to a gallon. Much more than 1 tablespoon. The plants have had nothing bad happen to them. | 6/7/2013 11:04:34 PM |

            | Kennytheheat | Bristol R.I. USA | I use it all the time. I use it on the leaves and the entire plant the leaves seem to really like it and it does feed the plant and mycrobes in the soil. Although I have heard that it does attract aphids. I've used it for years and I like the results that I've had.
