You are either ambitious or want the world handed to you on a silver platter... Which is it? Sngpg has a great newsletter. Holland also sent out a great info sheet. Otherwise I'd want their phone numbers too!

Holland does have a phone number... he is a good guy but growers are getting busy now, he may be getting busy... Try your local club?

You don't get it Karadza. Obtaining great seeds don't grow giant by them self. You need to spend $$$$ doing a soil test, adding amendments, adding composted manure, perlite, and other things to your soil. You need to have pest control and a watering system along with a fertilizing program for the season. Then time to take care of the plants. Focus this year mastering the fundamentals and the big weights will come in future years. You have good seeds to use for this first year.

Great growers put thousands of hours of work and learning to grow 'em big. Are you willing to do the same, karadza?

I really don’t see the need to jump down the poor guys throat about it jeez? Apparently you CAN blame a guy for trying?

orangeneck, I think we are dealing with someone that is quite young. If it was just one post, I think that it would have been ignored. But with all these multiple posts, and all the responses that have been given...this thread is not outrageous. Really karadza, show us what you can do, maybe Karl will be asking for your number. If you do not know how to do it yourself..you are in luck. BP experienced really like young growers. There is so much to teach. Maybe start out by saying what your age is? Another few years, you might be trying to promote a new auxin which has given you great results....you do know what an auxin is do you not? Really, if you do not..you should not be looking for the phone number of the biggest grower in NA. I am sure he knows what an auxin is.

Start fresh...we can teach you how to grow big...your shortcut, will not work.

Good luck K and welcome to bigpumpkins/ pumpkin growing. Some of us are thorny including myself. We act like we grow giant cactus.

Although incidental, Cactus...hmmm....everything ELSE is fair game, why not? problem is, they'd be 12 feet tall and we'd still go by weight, like for the Bushel Gourds, lol---ahhh, us...eg

How about Willemijms phone number? Anyone got that in their back pocket? Lol. Karadza, asking for his phone number is like asking to be teased, you should try and go to the same weigh offs as him, and ask him specifficaly, you would have better luck then with us, we don't know either.

karadza, people are not trying to be mean to you. People are trying to help you and are willing to help but you have to be willing to listen. If having top seeds automatically grew a big pumpkin, I would have grown several instead of none.
Why don't you go into the new growers thread and start asking questions about your soil , how to prune, vine burying and anything else to do with growing them including possibly finding a mentor that will help you.

I wonder how much you could water a cactus before it split.

A few years ago, I sent Qtip some Saguaro cactus seeds. He never did guess what kind of seeds they were. They only take about 150 years to grow. Karadza...I think you might live in minnesota..growing is fun, it leads to great friendships, there is not a one year quick trip to largest...ooops, maybe there is, Qtip set the Mn record in his first year, with the help of mentor Scott Steil. Join the community...it could be lifetime of enjoyment.

Welch, MN is where Treasure Island Casino is. I know because it was on the W2-G form when I hit a jackpot on a slot machine.

Karadza, good luck with your first year/growing season. The harder you work the luckier youll get results wise.Theres plenty of great crosses out there to try. Some proven, some new. The seed with the biggest # next to it always has the most demand mostly from newer growers. If you cant get mr. haist to fork over something from his impressive pumpkins I'd suggest some second generation haist seeds from this year or last. One cross is from a alaska grower, forgot his name but he does have the only moose trap I know of.

Cucumber board is a private one. You have to ask Marv from the tomato board if you can join. Very very exclusive forum!

Oh, how does that work? I mean making the forum, not asking Marv!. I did not know that there were private boards.

You’ll need to show Marv a pic of your cucumber, as well.

Qtips' carrot board is supposed to be even harder to get in on. I have only heard about this through the rumor mill. Things leak out every now and then.

OMG, now I´m seriously wondering which board (carrot or cucumber) would be the best place to discuss things like these..."carrots showing their cucumber".
