The first casualty of the season, the 116 Lyons Long Gourd. We came home tonight and it was "broken off". I assumed at first it must be wind damage, however upon further inspection we found that it was chewed at the soil surface and upon further inspection Ryan found this little critter. A black cut worm.
We dug out the corps and replanted a 118 Lyons 4-H plant. We then sprayed a liberal dose of Cypermethrin around the base of the plants and the closest AG plant. We then ringed the LG's with a plastic ring (Half of a gallon ice cream container). Hopefully this will be the end of this BS.
