Pictured above: a garden tractor, complete with tracks, plow, and disks. I want one!
Every grower encounters at least one pest that seems to take on the role of archnemesis. For me, those would be squirrels first, rats second, and deer third. Mind you, I haven't had any deer issues since installing my electric fence. Anyways, everywhere I turn, I swear I see rodents, rodents everywhere! And the only man I know who potentially rivals my detestation for squirrels and rats is my dear friend Mike.
Since meeting at our "local" weigh-off over 400km away two years ago, I don't think a week has gone by without us communicating. For most of the year, it's a daily basis that we're checking in on one another. I'm sure he'd disagree, but I don't think I could have asked for a better role model in the pumpkin world. He's always eager to answer my questions, and if he doesn't know the answer he's eager to help learn the answer right along with me. I owe him a lot, and I only hope that I may give back to him someday, somehow.
