Anthesis
This is a plant hormone-based product that I developed to try and increase the rate and duration of cell division early on in the pumpkins development. While it does seem to result in smaller pumpkins (compared to untreated fruit) for the first 37 days, but after this point the growth curve is greater and the treated pumpkins seem to grow for longer.
My pumpkin this year (2154 Sperry '23) was treated 48-hours after pollination on June 15th, 2025.
Many growers have used Anthesis with success and it is great to have seen the support from the community to not only try the product I developed but also provide honest reports back. While I had my reputation on the line, it was nice to hear of the success of many growers compared to pumpkins they has left untreated. While this may not have been scientific research hearing the same repeated patterns from many growers who did not talk to each other provided the key data to support the hypothesized results.
