We've had two pumpkins on the vine for two weeks and a few days. Our primary pumpkin on the main vine, and 19 days since it was pollinated, is gaining weight at a rate of 15 pounds per day this week. We have a second pumpkin growing on a secondary vine that is close behind but several days younger, since it was pollinated more recently. The bigger pumpkin isn't looking very good, but continues to gain weight consistently. It's a good thing I kept the backup because I'm guessing the primary won't be around this time next week. I hope it proves me wrong, but it's dimpling and its progressing. My wife wants to keep growing it, or it would be culled. I'll know better next year (actually knew better this year but had no other fruit at the time). We culled two in the past 3 days that looked better as 3 or 4 DAP than this one did at the same age. This one is taping at 125 pounds.
