While many growers add this for the potassium it has, the potassium it does have is very slowly available. For pumpkins this potassium could be considered minimal and should not be counted on due to the high requirements of a pumpkin plant. However, the inherent sand properties along with micronutrients are worth the time it takes to apply this product.
