Throwback Thursday. This is my grandfather Allen “Big Al” Kisamore and I with the 2416 Haist in 2018. Grandpa was the one who got me interested in giant pumpkins. He grew back in the mid 90’s the first few years the Ohio Valley Giant Pumpkin Growers existed. He was super excited when I offered to take him to the weigh off and also when I said I was gonna try to grow one. Sadly he passed away last July at 88 years old. I guess you could also say this is my motivation photo. Trying to beat his personal best of 571 in 1995 or 1996 I can’t remember, I’d have to go look at all of the OVGPG newsletters he had saved from back in those days.
