One last entry: Not too proud of anything I accomplished this year, but I did finally figure one thing out. Burn pits = aborts. My clever 'ground heating idea' throws the ph off or something... Ash has a high ph and high salts.
The burn pit plants looked ok they grew just as well as the others--as far as leaves and vines--but the pumpkins consistently aborted. So, no more ash-layered burn pits. The plants were tough enough for the ash, but the pumpkins weren't.
The other plants that aborted everything were the ones damaged by moles.

Everyone: Happy holidays, and a very special thanks to: pnwgpg & pgvg & bp.
