We have not been able to stop the hole from filling up with water because the stem is still pumping it out like no tomorrow. So looking at the situation as our cup(hole)is half full and not half empty we decided to cut the vine and we are going to take the pumpkin to Holland in two weeks time. God knows what it is going to cost getting it across the channel but it's absolutely enormous and deserves to be weighed. It's all fairly solid so fingers crossed.
