A couple of weeks ago I found a puddle of water around the stem of our biggest 1949 pumpkin. The water must have come in through the vents when raining and not shutting in time. The long and short of it is that yesterday Stuart and I found a tiny soft spot in the stem which grew to a mighty hole.
We now have a fan on it and we will see over the next few days if it dries out.
