150 sq ft patch. There is a lot of space yet to go for this plant. This plant should be twice as big by now but I've had some nutrient deficiencies. The plants are about six ft long. I also had an invasion of moles. The day they showed up the vine growth went from six inches per day to three. It may take me a few weeks to win this newest war against the moles. Until then growth will probably remain modest. I have three or four weeks to get the plants on track and can still hope for a good result. Last year I had no pollinations prior to July 21st. I probably missed having a good one to take to the Puyallup fair but that was my fault. 1114.5 Minor had a nice one which would have been good for the fair. Made a mistake though---I cut it off. Just like last year, I'm again culling the flowers I should be keeping.
