It turns out the yellow leaf issue is genetic. It is common in these seeds and I guess it's unrelated to any environmental cause because no other seeds have done this. Nearly half the plants from the 1122 Emmons x sib crosses I made last year have this defective trait. Some are good though. But maybe the good ones may still carry a recessive gene for this.
