Tilled the community garden yesterday, added fencing and this morning transplanted a 1916 Barron to the spot that it will hopefully grow to be a big, heavy orange pumpkin. Digging the planting hole I discovered something new about this soil. It has about 8 inches of sand on top of a really hard clay. Clay is something I am not familiar with growing in.
