Happy New Year to all and I wish everyone a new personal best in 2016!
I put the patch to bed earlier this year. I brought in a backhoe and dug the whole patch down to 4 feet to loosen up that hard soil down below. I also expanded all the sides. I love Sue's advice of being able to move around in the patch and not being so confined. 1500 sq ft per plant should give me plenty of room to get around without crowding secondaries and stepping on vines as work through the patch.
Mustard was planted so now we wait. If this el nino hits the weather guys are talking about, the cover crop will really help keeping my soil in place.
