I let the mustard just start to flower about the end of January,,,, mowed down then tilled it in. All the soil was watered heavy then 2 large tarps were placed on top of the soil and sealed tight. The idea was to get the most out of the biofumigation and keep as much of the glucosinolate gas in the soil as I possibly could. I was told just watering it heavy would be fine but I'm not a " Just Fine " kindda guy:) Its all or nothing.
This tarp will be remover in 3 weeks and I found an amazing source of compost not to far from the house that will be added with my inoculated winter crop in hopes of bring the soil up to par and back to life.
This has been a ton of work this winter. My most amazing mentor tells me, with the work your putting in now and a few small tweaks this summer,,,,, a personal best should be no problem:)
