1766.5 DeBacco ’13 (F: 1676.5 Daletas x M: 1216.5 DeBacco) 12% or 8.5% heavy (according to GPC and Team-Pumpkin charts respectively)
Today, I worked on getting my pumpkin to its final display, Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Ledyard, CT. This is where it was going to be carved by Scott Cully. Delivering and moving it with the equipment they had was easy, the hard part was picking the pumpkin up “wrong” so it stood up on end to provide the greatest amount of carving surface. After some planning and strategizing we were able to get the pumpkin properly oriented. This picture actually shows the bottom of the pumpkin over a month from being weighed at the Durham Fair and it was still in great shape.
The stem end is on the top and other than some 2x4’s and a couple of sand bags for increased stability the pumpkin actually sat quite nicely on its own. It was a tough decision to make but in the end it was the proper way to display the pumpkin.
In the background there is the statue that is the center point of the Rain Maker plaza just outside of the buffet area. (For those that have been to Foxwoods.)
