So Option 3 it was. Got a brand new razor blade. Sprayed it with 10% peroxide. Dipped it in captan and cut a big enough slice out of the stem that I can spray peroxide, get down in there with a pair of hemostats with a cotton ball to dry it out, and use an acid brush powder with captan. I put a fan directly on it and a cover closer to it so that the rain won't blow in on it. Guess I'll see what happens. Worse thing is what was going to happen anyway, I'll lose it, but it won't be for the lack of trying.

I've never seen down in one of these, but I'm pretty sure the problem is the way it is growing. There is a couple of inch void behind the stem. I doesn't look like a split. I looks like it is growing that way. I'm going to go take some pics now for documentation's sake.

The suckiest thing of all is, the day before it split I plucked off 6 or 8 female buds that would have been blooming in the next day or 2. The next ones that I have are at about 30 feet and probably won't open until this weekend or maybe even next week. Oh well, live and learn.

Wish me luck -- I'm going to need it.
