good news, bad news. good news that i pollinated the 1161 at 12' this morning and it was a beautifully symetrical 6 lober female pollinated with six 1385 male flowers. bad news is the 1385 at 13' was pollinated this morning with 5 males flowers from the 1161, but it had a couple seeds in the blossum on just one lobe. it was a perfectly sysmetrical 5 lober. i learned from last year that it might not make a difference because the 1041 blossum that became my 1147 pumpkin was the worst looking female i have ever seen. it will get its chance to compete with the next one down the line that should open in about 5 days and another one after that about 7 days away. the really bad news is the heat, as i am dripping wet from the pollination process as it is already 76 degrees and 100 percent humidity. oh well, the bottles of ice between the blossum and the fans are the last thing to do before off to work.
