the rain blew apart this morning before even getting here so i figured why not give them there scheduled drink along with some 9-18-9 and some vigor cal phos 0-13-0. i just ground drenched as i will be limiting my foliar ferts early on while many new leaves are forming that can be easily damaged. while fertigating and adjusting bamboo this morning i saw my first female at 8' on the 1161 along with another female on a secondary on the 1161. it sent a quick jolt through my system knowing that it won't be long now. gonna wait a day or 2 before snipping the females to let them get big enough to get a clean cut without damaging the vine tips. kind of glad that the weather has slowed the plants down a bit. the vines seem to be catching up in thickness and are becoming more stout all the way to the tip and the leaves are getting to a nice large size. it is also giving the plants more time to catch up on secondary growth. all mains have run outward nicely to this point, but with the new strength from tapping roots and more leaves have them wanting to "boner" up as pap likes to say. this is a critical time with females forming to keep them main vine tips down to avoid the boner up and break off snap that can happen when the plants start showing some muscle. after seeing that female, it was the first nervous- excited jolt since the big dogs sprouted. the fun is right around the corner.
