For the 100% organic gardener, it's harder to fight against disease and insects. But nature has made the wild plants. Some are excellent against diseases ( mostly prevent), insects ( prevent and cure) and some are growth booster and/or help the soil life. There are 3 ways to prepare them : decoction, infusion and maceration. I use a lot of consoude. It stimules the soil life and the plant growth, help the germinate rate and increase compost speed. It also kill aphids and white flies. Here a bucket of consoude (symphytum) freshly cut.

Thursday, September 2 View Page
Here the consoude cut finely and soak in rainwater (maceration) for a couple of days. Then Filter the whole liquid and use it pure to kill insects or dilute at 10% for drench or 5% for foliar spray.

Here the prele (equisetum). Prele prevents insects like leek worms and spidermites, boost the growth and prevent many diseases. Decoction ( boil for 1h) of 250g of dry leaves in 10l of rainwater. Filter and dilute at 20% to prevent many diseases and spidermites/the leek worms. Add black soap as a natural wetting agent. Prele contains also 10% of silice, calcium and potassium. I strongly think prele and others natural plants like orties (urtica dioica), consoude etc... help my pumpkin plants and all others vegts to stay green and heathly up to late october. There are many many others great plants available in the countryside like Garlic, rhubarb, pyrethre, onion, rumex, melisse, lavande etc... Free of charge and just great for the planet.

Here one of my 2 1180.5Pukos fruit. This fruit is from a 3 lobes flower and weighs 1001lb. Unfortunately, During the july month, I had a voles invasion, they dug tunnels everywhere , ate and destroyed most of the roots system of all my pumpkins and chew many leaves. The cross is 1180.5Pukos x 1161 Rodonis

1026 Daho 2010. Fruit went heavy. (and still growing 7lb a day when cut). Same Horrible voles problems from July to now. As the others 1180.5Pukos fruits, Should have been way bigger without the bloody voles. I love the shape and the color ! Cross is 991 Urena x 1180,5Pukos.

Tall corns. The one on the left is 5.33m today, still growing well, no tassle yet. One month ago, a big storm broke this corn. I found it on the floor. I put it up again but most of the roots were broken. Amazingly, it keeps growing ! On the back, you can see the Long gourd treilli.

Best raddish's still very heathly and keep growing gently.(over 150days old now) I dug carefully and found the root is the same diameter at 15cm deep. Wonder how long is it. What should I do ? cut it now or let it grow up the end of his life ?

Last pumpkin of the season, the famous 1161 Rodonis. Weighed 1017lb. Was still growing 1" every 2 days when picked on the 31 of october. This fruit grew on a lateral because the mainvine tip burnt late june. Open pollinated. Very heathly plant right up to the end. Thanks Bill.
