Here is a better shot. Got a second storm a week after the first. Was not good to have my snowblower in the shop when this one hit. First storm was not good as it cooled off quickly and the snow was hard especially at the end of driveway from plow. A lot of machines ended up going to shops.

Over on the left hand side of picture that is a path for the oil devery person. The city sidewalk snowblower came down the street and stopped 1 house down and then started again 3 houses up. I am at the center of a little snowdrift belt. Funny how certain places get it and 200 yds away not near as bad. Did my sidewalk in front of property also. That is life! Enjoy

The potatoes in the front are an old variety called Irish Cobbler and the smaller plants are Honeysuckle Yellow. It is a low glycemic variety that is very tasty. Researchers are testing different varieties to see if there are varieties that are even lower.

My plan is to grow 4 plants. There are 8 plants are in the hoop houses so 1 in each hoop will be culled. They are planted side by each and back to back. By starting more than you need, you can really see the difference with vigor as some plants make the decision easy

The one on the left side of picture is winning so far. The specks on the leaves are cucumber beetles which did not like the potato dust

Another battle of siblings and the one on left is winning so far and I hope it lies down properly. I am keeping the plastic over the plants to stop the rain from washing the potato dust off. The goal is to break the cycle of cucumber beetles by getting them before adulthood and breeding. Leaving one end open because of the blistering hot weather that is normal in June around here

Here is the next 7 days forecast. As you can see the heat will be overwhelming. Should be past frost but it is still only middle of June and have gotten frost 1st week of July and last week of August in the same year.

Here is some Glass Gem corn that I have to start culling out. Started under plastic for warmth and did not even open it up on sunny days. Too bad that you cannot do that with AGs. Rain sure beats watering for growth on all the plants.

This pepper is called Habanero de Arbol. This variety can get very tall and big. That translates to habanero tree and from what I have read that is what it can be in the right area. You are not supposed to prune it till it gets much bigger if at all. About 100,000 heat units. There is also the more common Chili de arbol. It will not over winter outside in my area. The flowers start out pointing down and when pollinated turn so pepper is pointing straight up. I think mine are the orange coloured ones.

I think I gave my cabbage too much nitrogen. Actually it is Walking stick cabbage or Jersey kale. Used to make canes and apparently can be used as lumber. Takes about 3 years to fully mature but probably will not over winter here. would be good for anybody that likes to make things. It is edible

This is still growing and if i can get it to 400 I will be happy. the others on the plant were much better shaped but just rotted. Might have white fungus in the soil and from what I have read it gets in through the blossom end or tears in the skin.Last 2 years have had excellent plants but pumpkins just rot. Can stay in soil for 5 years. Now the thing with this pumpkin is it is over 40 dap and is on a male sterile plant but everything took. Did not even begin to look after the plants or soil properly as I was just wanting to see if I could get anything to the end..
And congratulations Subs on your sunflower win

Saturday is not looking good (Fiona). But it has already been downgraded 7 mph so only 90 more to go. All the leaves are still on the trees which is not good. The original wind direction was NW but North is still pretty good. Southish is the worst for me . Where is the cold Atlantic waters when you need them.

Twin rainbow the following day. Fiona caused a lot of damage in this area. I woke about 2 A.M. for nature , looked out and seen hardly any damage. When I woke up at 7 the landscape had changed. I am normally a light sleeper and have slept through the 3 hurricanes we have had in about the last 10 years. We always only got the tail end of hurricanes, not the full fledged storm so something has changed. Had no power for 13 days and only cold water for bird baths. This was a beast of a different nature from what we have ever experienced in this area and will have to be better prepared if this is the new reality. Juan and Dorian were nothing like this. Can only imagine what Florida went through with Ian if it was this bad with Fiona. 95% of customers in my province lost power and some will be until this Friday.

This is Inferno from HD. My neighbor brought in the skeleton so we complimented each other. 12 foot toys attract attention. Because the weather was so nice I was able to get out the other toys that are not meant to get rained on. Lost several pumpkins to rot that I had ready to carve. I had a lunging dog hidden behind my car that activated when people walked by. Caused quite a few screams and jumps.
