Well it’s a new year, and with it brings new opportunities to… meet new people, make more great friends, and grow a new personal best. In this New Year I wish everyone the best of luck, and may we all grow that new PB. This year I’m going to do it the right way, I am getting a larger patch that actually gets sun light. I am introducing some more great new people to this sport, my friend Carson, who I plan to grow with this year. We have good seeds, are building up our soil, and are praying for a little luck this year. My lineup is soon to follow. Best of Luck Logan Duncan

!Germination Permitting! 1041.5 Mckie Description: Main plant Cross: 842 Eaton X 1068 Wallace Largest fruit: 1631.5 Mckie Planned Cross: 1041.5 X 1500.5 Characteristics: This plant usually produces long fruit that tend to go heavy and have thick walls. Thick walls are good because it reduces the risk of cracks and collapses, and also makes the fruit go heavy. The only way to continue to break world records is to get the big fruit that can make it to weigh offs and that go heavy, and that’s what this fruit is all about. Another positive attribute of this fruit is that it continues to grow after 90+ days.

!Germination permitting! 1209 Kuhn Description: Main plant Cross: 1385 X 1566 Largest fruit: NA Planned Cross: 1209 X 1041 Characteristics: 1500 and 1600 pound genetics, top producers crossed together. Female parent went almost 16% heavy and male parent went 15% heavy. This is a pumpkin with the very best of all four of the 2007 top producers. Looks great on paper, similar genetics on both sides which I feel could create a stronger more pure cross.

!Germination Permitting! 1500.5 Revier Description: Main plant Cross: 985 Werner X 1207 Young Largest fruit: NA Planned Cross: 1500.5 X 1209 Characteristics: 1500 and 1600 pound genetics, female parent was fast grower however it had a rib split. The 985 Werner was the #2 producer in 2008 with only the 1385 beating it. The largest 1207 to date, which had great shape, and went 9.6% over the chart, was the pollinator. The 1500.5 cracked with a month to go in that time it put on an estimated 250 more pounds, and was leaking while it was being weighed, if this fruit would have not of cracked, who knows how large it could have gotten. This is a cross to watch out for. Looks great on paper, similar genetics on both sides which I feel could create a stronger more pure cross.

!Germination Permitting! 664.5 Liggett Description: Main plant Cross: 1005 Mombert X 1097 Beachy Largest fruit: 1524.5 Liggett Planned Cross: 664.5 X 1041.5 Characteristics: This is a strong plant that can grow in little space and “moderate” soil and still produce giants. This plant also produces very high round fruit with an excellent shape which lessens the risk of collapse. This plant also tends to have a very thick stem which is both good. Pumpkins produced off this seed normally go right around what they should weigh. Another attribute is that it can produce 1500 pounders in 400 square feet.

664.5 Liggett(clone) Description: Sub Main plant Cross: 1005 Mombert X 1097 Beachy Largest fruit: 1524.5 Liggett Planned Cross: 664.5 X Sib Characteristics: This seed had a couple of problems after germination, it produced two true leafs and then the meristem ended, there were no side vines present, so you would think it would be impossible for the plant to grow. I then dug this plant up and put it in a pot. Several weeks after the plant stopped growing the stems of the two leafs started to get bumps. These bumps then turned into meristems and began to produce leafs and vines, I took cuttings from this “mass” of growth and started a clone. From then on the plant has been normal. This will be an interesting plant to see if it grows normal or starts to do weird things again. Other than that it should be just like a regular 664.

We came... We saw... We conquered, look at how low my truck got. yikes!
Monday, April 27 View Page
I spread the manure out on a 10 X 15 foot area, came out to be like 4 inchs. I decided to prep my patch in sections because I have school and work and it fits my budget better. There are 5 sections in my patch so i will have to get atleast 4 more pickup loads of manure.
Monday, April 27 View Page
Here is a diffrent angle, the cinder blocks are to keep manure in one area to make it easier to till. I will put the seedling in the center of this are. I made sure i was getting down atleast 18 inches when tilling.

This is the 664.5 Liggett seed, It is not really pushing through yet, it took this one about 48 hours to get a root and is growing at a slower pace which is typical of the 664 so i only put half of it in the soil so there is less of a chance it will rot.
Monday, April 27 View Page
This is the 1041.5 McKie seed and it is pushing through on its own, it had a root at the 24 hour mark when i checked on it and is doing well, growth wise it is about a day and a half ahead of the 664. Both of the plants have micro fungus in the soil and will be given benificial bacteria spray when they emerge which fights bad fungus and bacteria naturally.

So this morning Im checking my 664 because its not growing very fast at all, I just dust away the dirt to see if there is a stem and accidentally bump it and it moves. At first i thought o crap i broke it or its rotten so i move a little more dirt and it just falls over. I look at it and it just looks like a stem and the cot leafs, but no root. I look at it closer and it did not break or rot but there are two to four extremely small roots you can just barely see. I took it in a damp paper towel to school to ask my bio teacher what he thought, he just told me to put it in some dirt so.... this happened last year with my other 664 that i have a clone of except it had roots but only produced one leaf then stoped, then took about a month befor about 25 buds of growth started on the one leaf and turned into a mass of leafs and vines. I am going to try and save it... will post a picture when i get off work tonight.

close up of root on 664. i put it back in soil hopefully it will root. notice the small root on the left. Either mutated again or did some kind of damage to main root, but its not broken or rotten so thats good i have it under the light in icu.

June 8, 1041 A few of the leafs look like this dont know if it is a disease or just burn, i had some little ants around the plant but i hit them with merit so they should all be dead. Why are edges of the leafs yellow?
