My begining of my 2010 diary. Hopefully this will be the year I bring one to the weighoff. Here is my starting line up. Many to choose from, but I really want to grow the following for the ability to grow large and orange.

Dual manure tea barrels. Not only am I going to use it for the pumpkins, but the rest of the landscape just loves the result. It has been brewing since the last weekend in March. Hopefully it will be ready come June.

View one of the patch, I have installed some drip tape. I have 200 more feet on order. Listening to some experts of southern growing climates. I have been instructed to limit my overhead water affect and to switch to ground watering. I have also learned that the plants will tell you when they need to be watered.

Second view of the patch. This spring I amended the soil with 7 cubic yards of leaf compost and 7 cubic yards of cow manure. Tilled it in and you can see the result. Compared to three years ago my soil has a completely different structure and color. The red TN clay is just about gone. I have received many comments from visitors concerning the color. I have also added a pest control treatment to help control pests. I am still working on a solution to control my squash bug problem. One of the things I am going to try to do is plant some marigolds in the patch to help drive them away since they are supposed to detour them from coming into the patch.

Many inches of water has fallen in the Nashville metropolitan area. Watching live water rescues on TV. My family and I are fine, might be a challenge to get to work in the morning. Just ask you all to pray for all of those that have lost everything. They all need your prayers!
