Second view of the patch. This spring I amended the soil with 7 cubic yards of leaf compost and 7 cubic yards of cow manure. Tilled it in and you can see the result. Compared to three years ago my soil has a completely different structure and color. The red TN clay is just about gone. I have received many comments from visitors concerning the color. I have also added a pest control treatment to help control pests. I am still working on a solution to control my squash bug problem. One of the things I am going to try to do is plant some marigolds in the patch to help drive them away since they are supposed to detour them from coming into the patch.
