A 22 ft. tall sterile hybrid amaranth (A. hybridus X A. australis) at my garden plot at my job in Princeton, NJ. This is the second one of these that I grew to 22 feet this year. This plant received almost no care and was able to get this tall. It's the only thing that really came out of the garden of any real size. This plant was extremely heavy. Producing many side branches and a large base. Unlike giant amaranths, these hybrids produce stalks that are not hollow or only slightly hollow. This particular plant was most likely the heaviest amaranth I've ever grown. I had a difficult time trying to pick it up. Felt much heavier than any I've grown before.
