I'm finally getting a good jump on starting my pumpkin. This time last year I still had 4 feet of snow in the garden. But due to our odd El Nino winter weather this year the garden has been free of snow since the first week of February and the ground is finally thawed out completely. I'm working on building my hoop house and getting the soil tilled one last time in order to put my little seedling in the ground. Its usually the 2nd or 3rd week in May before I can get it planted. Hopefully this means I'll have an extra month or two of growth on my guard. I grew one around 500 lbs last year on only had it on the vine for about 60 days... hopefully I'll be able to break our personal record this year.
