The Dutch pumpkin maffia at the first Dutch Giant Vegetable Championship.
From left to right: Theo Kiewiet, Iwan Horde, Arnold Horde, Sebas Coenen, Jaap Mol, Brad Wursten and Jan Scheffe.
GIANT VEGETABLE LINE UP FOR 2010 (I think):
SQUASH - 1234 Wursten 07*, 1047 Cuypers 09* AMARANTH (tall) BEETROOT (heavy) CARROT (heavy) CORN (tall) CUCUMBER (heavy) CUCUMBER (long) LONG GOURD (long) MARROW - 206.5 Wursten, 118 Glazebrook, 73.6 Wursten PARSNIP (heavy) PARSNIP (long) POTATO (heavy) SUNFLOWER (tall) SUNFLOWER (head) SWEDE (heavy) TOMATO (heavy) WATERMELON (heavy)
Due to time and health reasons I have had to get rid of two of my five patches. So from 7500 sq ft to 4500 sq ft. So everything is compacter and I should have a bit more time to keep everything under control. And the normal vegetable garden and field pumpkin patch got smaller too.
I would like to break the beet and squash WR. This year I missed the beet record by 1/2 pound and I really need to get that WR squash back!
