I have one pumpkin plant in the ground already! Wow! Pretty good for Eastern Canada I think. This is a 843 Bourne with parents F-1207 YOUNG M-1309 HEBB. I have a 833.5 Bhaskaran that sprouted and seems stunted,so it may not be the second pumpkin and I have started back-up.Gosh,the weather is warm for this time of year and I have most of the garden in except for tomatoes and cukes. The next picture will be the huge cuke trellis I built...check it out!

Here is the giant cuke trellis I built! Maybe three hours tops with the cutting of poplar saplings and everything. It is 12 feet square and should really save space as well as being so practical.

I have overwintered my giant cabbage by burying them in underground all winter and now they are growing again(just the stumps!) and starting to flower. Pretty cool eh? Hope to get some seeds and see what happens from there.

My 843 Bourne has male flowers but no females yet.Getting too much "growing food" I think but patience...patience. Slow and sure can win the race!

Cabbage is still humming along.I don't think I'm much further ahead than last year at this time but I can't say for sure about it heading up where the weight goes on. It sure is tough to keep them from lying down when it gets hot.

My 843 Bourne pumpkin is still putting out runners and leaves and 2 females waiting to open...same as last year this time. I would have thought I might be a bit earlier than last year, but if I can get a successful pollination,I will be ahead.

Some cabbage pics. This one is starting to head up,and probably a little earlier than last year, but it is a little shy of the 5 foot mark in leaf spread that I had last year. I am hoping that there will be more weight in heads than leaves perhaps...that would be good.

This is the 843 Bourne which is the focus of attention(gets the most food and drink!) and it is really hooking on now.Females are popping out everywheres and I am sure that the plant is ready for the recent pollinated female to replace a dud previous.

Giant onions are doing well for this time of year and I'm juyst waiting for a big 'ol wind to knock my tops over. They are really super this year.Usually I'm adjusting them a lot.I may wish for 1 or two more inches between bulbs come september. It will be a fight for real estate.
