I should also mention that these were grown by my Nephew Ryan who was a first year grower last year and I did a lot of mentoring because I was unable to grow. I did manage to grow the pollinator plant and there is good genetics all around.

Snowed Sunday morning so decided to transplant on Monday. A couple of beautiful afternoons and the kids have been soaking up rays in the front yard after transplanting to larger containers. All 1st leaves are up with 2nd ones showing. Been hi 20s lo 30s at night so it will be a while before they see dirt. Forecasting 40s at night for a while so things should warm up a little. Now I need somebody to unlock my phone so I can get some pics.

Nephew must have learned something last year. 15 DAP on his 977 from last year. He more than doubled the size of his patch and growing 3 plants. Each with about 1000 sq ft of space that is getting close to being filled in.

I am obviously not growing this year but am still mentoring. This is from a friend (first year grower) who I gave my 990 Swigert plants to. It is a 400 sq ft patch which I brought in 5 yards of aged manure that he tilled into the area he had tilled. 30 DAP is 275"...120cc 76ss 79ee for a total of 488 lbs. The sheet of mill fabric is 4' x 4'. Gonna be wide like papa 1747.5 Bailey and has the yellow stripes between the ribs like mama1078 Gansert. Lets see what we can get from a 400 sq ft patch in the cool Adirondack Mountains!! Short growing season here.

DAP 47...152cc..90ss..86ss for328OTT..825 lbs. This 990 Swigert is doing well for my friends in their 400 sq ft patch. Very wide at 5 1/2 '. Things are slowing down here and leaves are getting used up. 40s and 50s for night time temps will slow it down more. Over a month to go for Saratoga Weighoff. Hope she holds together for them! They are hoping for a 1000 lber.

990 Swigert is trying to make a name for herself. First year grower at 52 dap in a 400 sq ft patch has been consistent. I like this mentoring thing!!! Still doing 18 lbs a day with temps in 40s and 50s at night and hi 50s lo 60s daytime but a warmup is on the way. 156 cc 88ee 96ss for 340 ott is 916 lbs. 5 weeks to Saratoga. Hope she holds together and really hoping it will turn Orange!

another angle..as you can see most of the main growth in 400' area is being used up. You can also see that I had them run vines up and along fence for this time of year which are still nice and green and fresh. With the heat and humidity this summer I had them water heavily in the morn and medium 2-3 times during the day. Seems to be working out well.

There were two kins growing from this plant. Being a 20 x 20 area i had them start the kin in the center 3' in. I then had them run the first secondary to the fence and curled it around and ran it back down the 3' space and then it ran thru the fence. There was a kin at about 25' out on that secondary Sheena pollinated that somewhere around mid-late July. When it reached about 150 lbs I had them cut the secondary near the main and had them swab both cut ends with vaseline to prevent leakage and fungal issues. This taped at 257 lbs and not taking away from main kin.
