Come join in the fun! South Shore Great Pumpkin Challenge is proud to announce, in conjunction with Coast of Maine Organics, the School vs. School grant program. This grant is open to the South Shore of Massachusetts. This includes the following counties; Bristol, Norfolk, Plymouth, Barnstable, Dukes, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Any school or educational organization with in the counties listed is welcome to take part in the Challenge. The school must grow a giant pumpkin on school grounds with staff, students, and parents of that school. The school with the heaviest pumpkin will win a grant for an agricultural based program or project. We are also offering a great program for all of Massachusetts and Rhode Island called Pledge Pumpkins. Just sign up with us and grow a giant pumpkin, you choose the location to grow it and pick a charity, school or non-profit to pledge the pumpkin to. Then you get family, friends and local companies to sponsor your pumpkin. They can pledge per pound or a flat fee (keep in mind, when pledging per pound if someone pledges $1.00 a pound and the pumpkin reaches 100 lbs. they will owe $100). This is a great, interactive fundraiser, you can play in the dirt and raise money for a worthy cause. And let's not leave out the Pros. We are welcoming professional growers to bring their pumpkins to our weigh off as well. We ask that they donate $75.00 for the weigh in. $50 will go to the pot for first place and $25 will go to South Shore Great Pumpkin Challenge for 2014. |
