To grow one pumpkin I obviously do not need a gallon of concentrate. Might there be an easily available sytemic insecticide and fungicide for someone just growing a single plant? With only one seed, I certainly don't want anything that could damage the plant either. However, I have read that with systemics, the vine borer is a non-issue. Too, why prune the stems if food for the pumpkin is produced by the leaves?

I'm gonna throw out Grub-X as an idea because since I've been using I haven't had any borer issues in the patch! Now I'd like to hear from others the pro's and con's? As far as pruning there's lots of methods and ideas. Some take every other secondary off for better airflow and access to the main vine, Sometimes there's a weak secondary that only takes up space and adds little to the plant and should be pruned. And if you don't prune the teriary vines you end up with an uncontrollable jungle plant! Hope this helps!
