the kins are still creeping along in weight as the weigh off is officially one week away. i have used blankets with tarps on the cool dewy evenings and have now let the pumpkins warm in the sun all day for the last 2 days with the cooler nights. i will keep this combo until they are cut and loaded on oct 3rd. got the lifting party set and the trucks lined up. all i need now is for them to stay in tact and be solid on lifting day. bottom rot or internal rot is the only anxiety left to deal with. cosmo on the 1446 is sitting about 965 lbs estimate with a 358.5 ott today with duct tape holding the tape outside of rib lines at the widest points. georgie on the 1041 is sitting at 360.5" ott or about 980 lbs estimate. not expecting much growth this week as temps will fall on tuesday with nights in lower 40s. any little bit will help and i am still watering regularly and applied more potassium in root drench 4 days ago. this will be an interesting weigh off for myself to say the least and 1000 lbs might still be in range. think heavy pumpkins...think heavy. see ya illinois growers next weekend.
