Here is a pic of the stem on the 772 Poirier. It has had some soft spots in it for a couple weeks. I had tried coating with fungicide paste and using a fan, but it really wasn't drying it up. With some advice from a few guys here on BP, I scraped the stem, applied alcohol, put the fan on it for about a half hour, then applied dry Captan powder, then restarted the fan and covered the whole thing with a tarp. The fan has been going for over 24 hours now. The stem tonight seems to be drying out. Hopefully we have saved the pumpkin.
Thanks to Dan Bowles, Sam Lovlace and Tom Privitera.
